Anna’s love for expression through movement has been a lifelong journey. As a young child, she would put on lengthy interpretive dance performances in her parents’ living room to the soundtrack of old records. At age 9, she took her first formal ballet class; and by age 13 had decided to pursue a career in dance. Anna studied at the School of the Albany Berkshire Ballet, the Joffrey Ballet School, the Boston Ballet School, the Milwaukee Ballet School, and at the dance conservatory at the University of Missouri at Kansas City, where she earned her BFA in dance performance. She then went on to dance professionally with the Ajkun Ballet Theater, Quixotic dance company, The Milwaukee Ballet, The Minnesota Ballet, and The Albany Berkshire Ballet. During her performing career, Anna began practicing yoga for physical cross training, and found that it also helped her to navigate the mental pressures and demanding nature of the professional dance world. In 2012, Anna left her full time performing career to welcome her son into the world. Again, she turned to yoga to carry her through the joys and the challenges of becoming a mom and changing careers. In 2015, Anna completed her 200 hour Hot Warrior Yoga Teacher Training at The Hot Yoga Spot. In the spring of 2017, Anna completed a 60 hour Hot 26 Revolution Bikram Immersion at The Hot Yoga Spot. Anna believes whole heartedly in the healing and transformative power of yoga. She teaches with the mindset that every body is made to dance, move, and do yoga regardless of shape, size, age, or experience. Anna strives to create a warm, welcoming, and sacred space for all practitioners. When she is not on her mat, you can find Anna enjoying time with her family, teaching at the ballet studio, communing with nature, and (still) dancing around in her living room.
