Karen started off in Tampa where she achieved soloist level with The Tampa Ballet Company. After relocating to New York City, Karen began her teaching career with the prestigious Lotte Berk Method. Karen created her specially-focused “Stretching to Strengthen” class for the dance world, which she taught at Broadway Dance Center for six years. Completing her Pilates certification through Power Pilates, she added over 150 hours of anatomy and kinesiology study with Irene Dowd, while becoming the first manager of the Pilates Studio at The David Barton Gym on Madison Avenue.
Karen and her husband moved to New York’s Capital Region in 2005. Since then she has achieved her GYROTONIC® certifications in the Jumping Stretching Board; Level 2 Cobra; and the Knee Extension Unit. She was selected to teach Pilates at the NYSSSA New York City Ballet and has done so since 2010. She is a PMA®-Certified Pilates Teacher, as well an AFAA: Group Exercise Instructor, and is proud to be a member of two artistic unions: SAG-AFTRA and The Actors Equity Association. Karen worked with Tracey Mallet as a teacher trainer for The Booty Barre® and in 2015 she received her 200 hour yoga certification from The Hot Yoga Spot with the Styles Yoga Teacher Training. Karen is excited to be able to share her love of both yoga and barre fitness by teaching classes at The Hot Yoga Spot.
